MUMBAI: The expanded American Consulate in Mumbai is all set to function from its new location from Nov. 21.
The US diplomats said that it had moved to serve the people from a better location to extend improved services to the people from western India. However, sources said that the consulate moved to new location for security reasons.
The US Consul General in Mumbai Peter Haas described the shift as historic move of the US Consulate from Breach Candy and Churchgate to the Bandra Kurla Complex, which he said would take place from Nov. 15-20. "The move reflects the expansion in US-India relations and accommodates India's growing demand for visa services. The US Consulate General will be closed to the public temporarily and will reopen in its new facility on Nov. 21," he stated.
