The first time member of the US Congress from the Democratic Party Krishnamoorthi has been championing the cause of Indian immigrants in the US. He has been holding discussions with the leaders of the Hindu, Jain, Sikh, and Muslim communities to understand their diverse concerns, as quoted by the Indian Express.
Krishnamoorthi, the Indian-American member of the US Congress has also held discussions with the Muslim-American community members when he recently visited the Muslim Society and Islamic Foundation in Villa Park.
Krishnamoorthi said that he works every day in the Congress to support and highlight the cause of Indian communities on issues such as religious freedom and immigration. The recent increase in incidents of hate crimes is also chiefly discussed as also the issue of general hostility that has influenced Indian immigrants in the US and caused fear in the minds of other immigrants as well, added the US Congress member.
The member of the US Congress from the Democratic Party had, in fact, held a formal meeting with Jeff Sessions the Attorney General to utilize the complete powers of his office of US Congress member to fight against the increase in incidents of hate crime.
He also asked the committee to schedule hearings on the incidents of hate crime through the speech on the floor of the US Congress and formal letter as well.
Of late he wrote a Congressional letter impressing upon John Kelly, the Secretary of Department of Homeland Security to utilize the resources of the department to combat the issue of increase of hate crimes against the religion-based minorities in the US.
