Non-EU-EEA Overseas Students looking to Study in Finland have many options for Tuitions fees waiver, Grants, and Scholarships available to them. From 2017 autumn, a tuition fee is applicable to the Non-EU-EEA overseas students. The tuition fee will depend upon the place of study and chosen program in Finland.

Scholarships and grants:

As tuition fees will now be applicable to non-EU/EEA students, all Finland universities are mandatorily required to have scholarship programs for them. There is less scholarship option for Graduate students. Erasmus Mundus have options for financing studies for Bachelor’s programs.

Students from outside the EU/EEA who have excellent academic credentials are eligible for a total or partial waiver of their tuition fees. The scholarships are given by the Government of Finland. Some also offer allowance for living costs, as quoted by the Masters Portal EU.

UAS’s and Universities in Finland offer scholarships to the talented students from outside the EU/EEA who are enrolled in the Degree programs that charge tuition fees. The system for scholarships is diverse for each UAS/University.

Scholarships to Overseas Students in Finland are granted depending on their academic performance. It could be in the form of complete or partial waivers for tuition fees. It could also be in the form of refunds based on performance. Some of them also include allowances for living costs.

Exemptions:

There are certain rules for exemptions that offer non-payment of any tuition fees if the overseas students are:

  • Enrolled for research or studies at the Doctoral level
  • Studying provisionally in Finland through a formal exchange program for students
  • Holding enduring Finland Residence Permit or long-term resident’s EU Residence permit for Finland

Scholarship options

There are several scholarship program options for overseas students in Finland. Below are a few of them.

Whole Education Fund You Scholarship

This is a complete funding scholarship. Even overseas students who pursue Bachelor’s program in Finland are eligible for this.

Hamprey Fully Funded Scholarship Program

This is also a totally funded scholarship program. Even Under-graduate and Graduate program students can qualify for this program.

Scholarship to Fund your Education

This is another program for the fully funded scholarship. It is open for Under-graduate and Graduate students as well.
