Thailand, battling from worst floods in 50 years could waive visa fee to boost tourism. Thailand has waived visa fee in past that benefited tourism industry, similar step could be taken again to aid tourism industry ailing from floods.
Tourism in Thailand is dipping despite several accrance by TAT. There have been several attempts to inform tourists that all major tourist destinations in Thailand are safe. Even in case of Bangkok, Central Bangkok, which is most popular among tourists is still safe and open for tourists.
Tourist arrivals are predicted to drop by more than 220,000 this year. To counter the dip in tourism, Thailand has decided to take some steps. One of the steps is expected to be fee waiver for 60 days visa. At present tourists are required to pay $62 to obtain 60 days visa.
Thai Airways has also step up to help ailing Thailand's hospitality sector. The airline has agreed to slash airfare by 50 per cent for domestic destinations like Phuket, Samui and Krabi from Suvarnabumi Airport in Bangkok.
