The chief minister of Telangana K. Chandrasekhar Rao is offering a scholarship for students belonging to minority communities in the state who wish to study overseas.
In view of this, the minorities welfare department of Telangana has invited applications from students to apply under the Chief Minister’s Overseas scholarship scheme for the fall and spring semesters in foreign universities.
The scholarship will provide monetary aid to minority students who wish to pursue higher studies at postgraduate and doctoral levels in foreign universities.
Eligibility requirements
Those students who have got admission to foreign universities in the first two semesters for the January-December 2020 session are eligible for this scholarship. The government provides 20 lakh rupees per student. Eligibility conditions for the scholarship is that the students should belong to families whose annual income is less than 2 lakh per annum.

Scholarship details
Students selected for the scholarship will get half of the scholarship amount when they produce the immigration and the other half after the first semester results. The last date to apply for this scholarship is November 30.
The student shall be liable for an INR 5.00 lakh educational loan from any nationalized bank at prevailing interest rates.
By pursuing research / teaching assistantship, the awardees are allowed to augment their prescribed allowances.
Reservation for women students
The scholarship will be provided to 250 students twice a year. Out of this 33 percent of the scholarship will be reserved for women students. This reservation is a step towards empowering women in the state and will provide them equal opportunities to study abroad.
Opportunities for minority students
The scholarship will provide a golden opportunity to minority students to study abroad and remove the cost deterrent to pursue higher studies in foreign universities.
The students can pursue higher studies at U.S, Britain, Australia, Canada, and Singapore under the scheme. The students can apply to most of the recognized universities in these countries.
The scholarship is a step towards providing opportunities to minority students to pursue their dream of studying abroad. The government's help is a step in the right direction.
