Taiwan is inviting citizens of different countries around the world to come into its territory and establish innovative and profitable businesses that can boost its national economy. This is a part of the plan of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that aims to raise Taiwan to the level of becoming a major hub of entrepreneurship in the Asia Pacific region of the world.
An applicant must know
To apply from any place other than Taiwan, an applicant must go to the representative office of the ministry in the country from where they are applying. Applying in Taiwan will require one to visit the ministry’s Bureau of Consular Affairs, located within the country. The government of Taiwan also hopes that this move may also lead to an improvement in the start up activity.
Since the program is still in its initial stages of implementation, the nationals of very few countries have the privilege of acquiring an entrepreneur visa from the government of Taiwan. Among these countries is Hong Kong and Macau. The ministry declared that people from these countries must submit their visa applications to Mainland Affairs Council.
Who is deprived of this opportunity?
However, people from Mainland China, have to face disappointment in this regard as the ministry declared that they are not including the nation, in the list of country that will avail the opportunity to establish and successfully run a business in Taiwan. The applications so made, will go through the scrutiny of Ministry of Economic Affairs review committee.
Other benefits of this visa
Apart from giving an opportunity to establish business in Taiwan, the entrepreneur visa allows you to enjoy an additional benefit. All those who succeed in acquiring this visa, will be able to apply for an alien resident certificate given by the National Immigration Agency. This was also a fact confirmed by the ministry.
Applicants sending their submissions for the first time can live in the country for an year and can also extend their stay for an additional two years of time. In the first phase there will be a quota for not more than 2,000 entrepreneur visas. The government of Taiwan plans to review this after 2 years of time if needed.
