The 2020 Best Countries Report is out, and Switzerland, Canada and Japan continue to reign in the top 3 positions.
For yet another year, Switzerland has been adjudged as the best country in the world. Canada takes the second position while Japan takes the third. The United Kingdom has been ranked as the 6th best country while the US has been ranked 7th, climbing up one spot.
The report suggests that the US is perceived as the most powerful country in the world. However, it is not perceived as the most trustworthy. Canada takes the top spot as the most trustworthy country in the world. It has been perceived so since the first Best Countries Report came out in 2016. The US, in contrast, has steadily dropped to a record low of 16.3 on a scale of 100. The UK has also dropped on the trustworthy aspect, while South Korea, Greece and Spain improved.
The 2020 Best Countries report also stated that there was a global consensus regarding climate change. Indonesia agreed the most regarding climate change at 97% along with Kenya, South Africa and Nigeria. Russia, at 71%, agreed the least regarding climate change.
Australia, Canada and the UK agree the most that technology is displacing jobs. In Japan, just 31.5% agreed that technology is displacing jobs.
