Foreign spouses living in Korea may get a boost in their residential status later this year.
The Justice Ministry said Friday that a new visa category the F-6 is being considered for marriage immigrants to clarify legal issues and reduce administrative hassles. Currently foreign spouses are granted F-2 long-term foreign resident visas.
With the new F-6 visa the ministry says the government can support the growing number of international spouses which topped 141,000 last year.
The new proposal also includes plans to ease requirements for permanent residency for foreign investors and professionals
