Although an interview is not mandatory, you might have to appear for an Australia Partner Visa if the Department of Home Affairs finds it required, depending on the application you submit. The interview aims to determine if the relationship between the two partners is genuine and not fabricated solely for acquiring the visa or the status of Australia PR. The immigration officer might ask for personal details relevant to the visa issuance to understand the relationship's genuineness.

Top 5 Interview Questions for Australia Partner Visa

The following are the top five questions you might be asked in case you have to appear for an interview for an Australia Partner Visa:

1. What is your relation to the sponsor?

Ans: This question is asked to confirm the relationship you mentioned in the application form. As the visa is applicable to married spouses and de facto partners, both partners must be able to explain the relationship to the immigration officer. The answer should be backed up with proper evidence that has been used as proof of relationship while applying for the Subclass 820 visa.

2. How many years have you known your partner?

Ans: This question aims to reaffirm the genuineness of your relationship with your partner. You should answer this question by mentioning details like where you met, how long you have been together, and how you plan to support each other after moving to Australia.

3. How are you managing expenses as partners?

Ans: This question aims to understand how you will manage your personal expenses as a couple and whether you will need any financial aid or assistance from the government. The immigration officer should be convinced that you will not appeal to the government for financial assistance under any circumstances. The sponsoring partner must be able to support their partner financially to be eligible for the visa.

4. How do you manage your expenses?

Ans: To answer this question, you can provide a detailed financial plan for your monthly expenses. If you are a working professional and plan to work in Australia, then you can even provide details of your monthly and annual income to provide an overview of your expenses.

5. What will you do if the visa application is rejected?

Ans: To answer this question, you must acknowledge the possibility and express disappointment. You must provide them with an alternative plan to emphasize your intention to reapply after addressing any potential issues while demonstrating commitment to your goals.
