Deakin to offer high-value Overseas Scholarships to Indians

The University of Deakin in Australia has announced 4 high-value overseas scholarships for Indian students. This is in collaboration with organizations in India. These are available as 100% waivers for tuition fee. It is for the complete duration of study at the University of Deakin in Australia.

The 4 high-value overseas scholarships are offered across the major thematic areas at the University of Deakin. These are futuristic and will assist in solving global issues positively impacting the world.

Chairperson & Managing Director Biocon Limited Ms. Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw spoke on the objective of these overseas scholarships. The Deakin-Biocon scholarship aims to offer integrative education in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), she said. This will encourage the students to become innovators of the future, added Ms. Shaw.

The Overseas Scholarships are within the purview of the Meritorious Scholarship of the Vice-Chancellor of Deakin University. They were first launched for students from India in 2014. Scholars are inducted into the VCPEP - Vice Chancellor's Professional Excellence Program under this.

Scholars must complete the VCPEP along with their course. They are offered support at each step to enable them to reach beyond their expectations. It is to prepare them for future careers.

The University of Deakin in Australia has given 2 million AUD under VC scholarships in the past 4 years. It plans an investment of 1 million AUD in the coming 3 years.

The scholarship has become more popular under the theme ‘Changing Lives’. The University has created enhanced awareness regarding global opportunities for mentorship and learning. It also includes platforms for the future.

Vice-Chancellor & President University of Deakin Professor Jane den Hollander AO elaborated on these scholarships. The collaboration with organizations in India for the Meritorious Scholarships is a vital bridge, she said. This is to enable more numbers of students to study abroad and benefit from the overseas experience, she added.
