The Canadian Federal Skilled Trades Program is a pathway to quickly obtain a Canada PR for aspiring immigrants if they are qualified in a skilled trade. This is an initiative by Canada to ensure that the nation attracts and retains skilled workers.
There are diverse requirements to qualify for the Canada Federal Skilled Trade Program. These include work experience, language proficiency, qualifications, and a job offer. The program now functions through the federal Express Entry immigration selection system.
The factors that affect an applicant's eligibility for the Federal Skilled Trades Program are:
Work Experience:
Minimum 24 months of experience in a full-time job must be possessed by the applicants. This must be in the specific trade for 5 years before lodging the application. If the experience is in a part-time job, then it must add up to 2 years of full-time experience.
Language Proficiency:
Applicants of the Canada Federal Skilled Trade Program must have minimum intermediary command of English or French language. It can be demonstrated by taking an accredited test for language. This includes Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program, or International English Language Testing System, or Test for Evaluation of French.
Job Offer / Skilled Trade Qualification:
If the applicant has a permanent job offer, they must be able to demonstrate that it is a full-time Canadian job that totals up for at least 30 hours or more weekly. If it is a part-time job then there must be 2 job offers that will add up to 30 hours weekly.
If the applicant fulfills all the eligibility criterions and possesses the specific skilled trade certification, then they do not require the job offer, as quoted by the CIC News.
Job Requirements:
The applicants must be able to cater to the requirements for any one of the job opportunities that is offered in the Canada Federal Skilled Trade Program. There is a list of likely jobs for the applicants. They must be able to satisfy either the training or relative certification for one of the jobs in the list.
Federal Skilled Worker Program selects skilled and experienced overseas immigrants for immigration to Canada. The points system under the Federal Skilled Worker Program mandates that the applicants possess minimum 67 points.
