Can I get a PR with work experience?

Yes, applicants with valid work experience have higher chances of getting a Canada PR. The Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), with full-time skilled work experience or work experience while studying, is considered one of the requirements for Canada PR applicants. Work experience is one of the most important factors that highlights the skills and qualities of the applicants. It boosts the application's credibility, increasing the chances of obtaining a PR.

Skilled work experience

The applicants will be awarded maximum points for full-time work. Their occupations should be listed in the NOC as TEER 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5

The NOC list includes:

  • TEER 0 Management occupations
  • TEER 1 Occupations that usually require a university degree
  • TEER 2 or TEER 3 Occupations that usually require
    • college diploma
    • apprenticeship training of 2 or more years, or
    • supervisory occupations

The applicants must have proof of duties described in the job description in NOC to be considered by the IRCC.

Work experience as a student

The work experience gained by applicants during their bachelor's or master's will be considered. The experience will be considered as a minimum requirement if there are no job gaps and compensated by good wages.
