Bates College ranks 4th in the Fulbright US Student awards

Bates college is ranked 4th this year in the Fulbright US Student awards. The 2019 list for Fulbright Top Producer was declared by the US Department of State. It was also published in the Chronicle of Higher Education.

Bates College has obtained the honours in the Fulbright Top Producer list for 8 successive years. This includes the #1 ranking in 2017-18 amongst all Bachelor degree institutions in the US.

13 Fulbright US Student awards have been won by Bates College in this academic year. It has obtained a position among the top 5 producers for the 5th consecutive year.

Fulbright is sponsored by the Department of State in the US. It is the flagship overseas educational exchange program of the US Government.

The highly competitive program bases its awards on leadership potential and academic merit. It sends US residents to several nations for teaching, studying or conducting research. This is for promoting international understanding and cultural exchange. It is also for finding solutions to shared issues, as quoted by the Bates Edu.

Dean of Faculty and Vice President for Academic Affairs Malcolm Hill said that Bates has distinguished itself in diverse spheres. However, our recurring and impressive ranking among the top Fulbright Student producers is particularly noteworthy, he added.

Malcolm Hill said that this result is a striking alignment of our academic enterprise and mission. I congratulate our staffs who constantly encourage intellectual innovation in our students, he added.
