It's no secret Alberta continues to be Canada's jobs powerhouse.
Edmonton accounted for 40 per cent of new net jobs in Canada in the past year, while Alberta as a province created 80 per cent of new net jobs, Edmonton's chief economist said last month.
“Over the past 12 months, Alberta has generated more new jobs than any other province in Canada and that includes Ontario, which is five times as large as we are,” John Rose told Global Edmonton.
And while Alberta’s unemployment rate increased by 0.2 percentage points to 4.9 per cent in August, according to the province's latest labour market figures, the rate remains the second lowest among the provinces behind Saskatchewan.
In the past year alone, Alberta has added 37,800 jobs — the highest number across the provinces, making it a tempting job market for many across Canada who come to seek out work.
The flexible and and prosperous work environment means many employers have stepped up their game, adding attractive benefits and flexible work conditions to attract and retain talent.
Earlier this year, Workopolis, along with the Calgary Herald and Edmonton Journal, published a list of Alberta's Top 65 employers — businesses of all sizes that "lead their industries in offering exceptional places to work."
We've combed the list to come up with the largest employers (more than 2,000 employees) who offer progressive and forward-thinking places to work.
