Why Apply for a Turkey Tourist Visa?

  • Turkey has rich culture, history, nature, and delicious food, with many places to visit at affordable prices
  • You can travel for tourism, visiting family or friends, or short business trips
  • A tourist visa allows you to stay up to 30 days for travel purposes
  • You can see ancient ruins, big mosques, fairy chimneys, beaches, and hot springs
  • Turkey is located in both Asia and Europe, making it a unique place to explore for Indian travellers

A Turkey Visit Visa is a short-term visa. It allows people to travel to Turkey for tourism, family visits, or business meetings. It is only for a short stay, and you must return to your home country after your trip.

Turkey is one of the fastest-growing tourist destinations in the world. In 2024, more than 62 million people visited the country, and tourism income reached $61.1 billion. Around 162,000 tourists visit every day, and this number goes above 200,000 during peak seasons. Turkey plans to welcome 65 million visitors in 2025. Travel from India is also growing fast, with a 20.7% increase in 2024. Over 1.26 lakh Indians visited in early 2024, contributing nearly $500 million each year.

Turkey is known for its mix of Asian and European culture, history, and natural beauty. Indian citizens cannot get a visa on arrival. This option was removed in April 2014, so you must apply for an e-Visa or sticker visa before traveling.

Most tourist visas are valid for 180 days from the issue date, with a maximum stay of 30 days per visit. The visa can be single-entry or multiple-entry based on the embassy’s decision.

Types of Turkey Visit Visa

Tourist e-Visa

This is the quicker and easier option for most travellers. Indian citizens are eligible for Turkey e-Visas, but only if they hold a valid visa or residence permit from the USA, United Kingdom, Ireland, or any Schengen country. The e-Visa allows a stay of up to 30 days and is valid for a period of 180 days.

Tourist Sticker Visa (Type C)

Most Indian tourists need to apply for a sticker visa, which entails submission at a visa application centre. This visa is for sightseeing, visiting family or friends, or attending events. It requires an in-person application at a Gateway International/VFS centre.

Short Stay Business Visa (Type C)

This visa is for attending business meetings, conferences, or trade fairs. It does not allow you to work or earn money in Turkey. It is useful for working professionals and business owners who wish to attend conferences, business meetings, and trade fairs, and to establish commercial contracts in Turkey.

Family Visit Visa (Type C)

This visa is for visiting family members or close friends living in Turkey. You will need an invitation letter from your host that includes their ID and proof of residence, along with your travel details.

Airport Transit Visa (Electronic)

Indian citizens transiting via Istanbul Airport while travelling to Mexico, Panama, Colombia, and Venezuela are required to obtain an electronic Airport Transit Visa.

National Long-Stay Visa (Work Visa)

Indians need a Turkey work visa for employment purposes, which allows them to legally work in the country, usually for a Turkish employer. Essential for long-term employment, a work visa to Turkey also functions as a residence permit, authorizing legal long-term stays. This category is not for tourism.
