The Green Card Lottery also known as US Diversity Immigrant Visa program was launched in 1990. The main aim of this lottery is to increase immigration to the US. Around 50,000 applicants are selected randomly through a lottery in the computer.
The DV-2016 opened on 1st October 2014 (EDT) (GMT-4) and will close at noon on November 3rd, 2014 (EST-Eastern Standard Time).
All entries are to be entered electronically using the electronic DV form at dvlottery.state.gov only. The US Department of State also issued the notice that after noon (EST) on Nov 3rd, no entries will be accepted.
