The UK Visas and Immigration - UKVI and Border Force and Immigration Enforcement are severely unprepared to cope up with migration changes after Brexit. The UK Government is responsible for intolerable delays in laying out its policies. It is also depriving the key immigration agencies of the necessary resources. These damning revelations have come from the Parliamentary Committee- Home Affairs Committee.
The failure on the part of the Ministers to outline plans for migration after Brexit is exceptionally deplorable said the powerful Parliamentary Committee. The result is that crucial changes will have to be hurried through devoid of appropriate scrutiny by the Parliament. The security of the borders will be compromised, warned the UK Members of Parliament, as quoted by the Independent Co UK.
The censure builds renewed pressure on the UK Government to elaborate its migration plans. This includes clarifying who will receive residency in the UK after Brexit.
Initially, the White Paper elaborating the post-Brexit proposals was supposed to be revealed last summer. It was delayed until last month and Ministers told the MPs that it will be announced at the right time.
Home Affairs Committee condemned the delay and said that there is a deficiency in adequate planning and required resources. It is resulting in grave issues for agencies dealing with migration and border security - UK Visas and Immigration - UKVI and Border Force and Immigration Enforcement. The ability of the Home office to deliver the changes after Brexit is seriously questionable said the committee.
The EU citizens in the UK are under anxiety owing to the ambiguity in the intentions of the government on migration. This is further worsened with the delay in the White paper on migration, said the Committee.
Businesses in the UK are uncertain and are forced to delay planning. The already overburdened UKVI officials are in an impractical situation and this is really not acceptable, added the Home Affairs Committee.
