The UK Prime Minister Office No, 10 Downing Street has offered indications that Skilled Visas cap may be lifted. The official spokesman of the PMO has said that NHS applications are being monitored closely and with high priority. It will be ensured that the UK economy receives the workers that it needs, added the spokesman.
The UK PMO has confirmed that the government is closely examining the effect of Skilled Visas cap. This had resulted in 1,500 plus Doctors being denied UK visa in the period 2017 December to 2018 March.
Sajid Javid the UK Home Secretary also enhanced hopes that the Skilled Visas cap could be done away with. He added that the visa policy was being reviewed enhancing pressure on the Prime Minister to ease the curbs.
The review of visas is a continuous process said Sajid. The situation is being monitored with respect to visa applications of Doctors. It also includes the monthly cap, as well as the Tier 2 UK Visa path, he added.
The UK Government completely acknowledges the contribution made by the overseas professionals to the UK. Visa pathway reviews are periodic said the Home Secretary. It is crucial to ensure that the immigration rules are favorable to the national interest. The employers are also required to first identify local workers in the UK prior to overseas hiring, he added.
Addressing the specific shortage of Doctors, Javid said that the situation is under review and being examined very closely. It was reported that 1,500 plus visa applications by Doctors who had job offers in the UK were rejected in Q1 2018. This was due to the ceiling on Tier 2 Visas for professionals outside the EEA.
