UAE opened new consular and visa service centre in Delhi As the United Arab Emirates opened its new dedicated consular and visa service centre in Delhi on 17 October, obtaining a visa to Emiratis will become much easy hereafter. Al Banna Ahmed, UAE Ambassador to India inaugurated the complexes in South Delhi’s Vasant Kunj area at a programme, which was chaired by Najeeb Jung, Lt Governor of Delhi. Housed in the UAE embassy earlier, the facilities will provide attestation, visa and all other consular services for Indian citizens and UAE nationals, who are currently residing in India. Backing for improved strategic relations with India, Banna hailed the existing bilateral ties between the two countries. He was quoted by the Press Trust of India as saying that ties between India and UAE were historical and harmonious. This measure would elevate the relationship to a new level, Banna added. According to Banna, following the visit of PM Narendra Modi to UAE in August 2015 and the visit of Abu Dhabi’s crown prince to Delhi in February this year, an understanding has been reached to further bolster ties between the two. Meanwhile, UAE is slated open its new Consulate General in Kerala on 20 October. UAE is said to be home to about 2.6 million Indian expatriates who comprise almost 30 percent of the Emirates’ population.
