Panama Work Visa applicants will now have to attend the Labour Immigration Department in person before submitting their applications. This is applicable for renewal or initial work permit applications to Panama. The Ministry of Labor has published the details of this fresh requirement for registration on 20 February 2018. It is dated as Resolution number DM 064 2018, 8 February.
The registration will begin to be applicable from March 6, 2018.
The Panama Work Visa applicants whose applications are pending by that date must complete the registrations upon approval of the work permit. This must be done after they visit the Labor Ministry to obtain their ID Work Permit, as quoted by the News-Herald.
The applicants must carry their original passport for the registration. They will also need a copy of their migration status certificate, original ID card for immigration, a power of attorney and work permit application submission receipt.
Panama employers must make sure that their overseas national workers attend the Labor Ministry for registration of biometric at the earliest. This must be done to avoid delays and as soon as the new requirement becomes effective.
The Panama Labor Ministry had issued an order that mandated all Panama Work Visa applicants to visit the Ministry in person for biometric registration. It was on December 26, 2017. This must be done prior to submission of any renewal or initial application for work permit.
It was anticipated then that the new system for registration would be executed from 2018 January. This will include a scan of the photograph, passport, and fingerprints of the applicant. It will not be applicable for SEM Residence Visa applicants for permanent workers of MNCs. They do not require a separate application for work permit.
