Nationals of Britain use e-visas most to visit India

The foreign tourist numbers arriving in India on e-visas in the month of July increased by 73.3 percent when compared to the same month in July 2016, according to Statistics released by the Ministry of Tourism.

It also reveals that most numbers of travellers who make use of India’s e-visa application system are the nationals of the United Kingdom at 12.9 percent. Americans at 12 percent are the second highest number users of this system, followed by people arriving from the United Arab Emirates at 7.2 percent.

According to indiagbnews.com, 119,000 travellers arrived in the country with an e-visa in July, an increase of 68,000 when compared to the same month in 2016.

The Ministry of Tourism’s data highlights the increasing traction of use of online visa application system and also the surge of tourists coming to India.

It was reported that about 5,674,000 travellers entered India in the first half of 2017, an increase of 15.7 percent from the 4,903,000 people who entered India during January-July 2016.

The most number of foreign tourists arriving in India in July were from Bangladesh (20.1 percent), followed by the US (16.3 percent) and the United Kingdom (10.9 percent).

The UK is also said to have made the process of entering its shores easier for Indian nationals by introducing technology to hasten up entry.
