Now it is India-Born Punit Renjen who gets the top position in another US firm. Punit has been appointed as the CEO for global operations for Deloitte. It is an audit and accounting giant counted among the Big Four audit firms besides PwC, KPMG, and Ernst & Young. Punit Renjen will be the new head of Deloitte, first ever person of Indian origin to lead a Big Four audit firm.
He will replace the existing CEO Barry Salzberg from June 1, 2015. Deloitte has 47 network firms and runs its operations in more than 150 countries with an overall workforce exceeding 200,000.
"I am honoured. It is a privilege to be part of an organization that delivers high quality services and innovative solutions to the best clients, develops the most talented professionals into leaders and does its part to improve the societies in which we operate," Renjen said in a statement published in The Times of India.
Mr. Renjen is from Rohtak, Haryana, completed his schooling from Lawrence School, Himachal Pradesh, and moved to the US to pursue Bachelor's Degree with Honours and a Master's Degree in Management from Willamette University. Later he joined Deloitte and has been with the company for more than 27 years now.
He held various top positions in Deloitte Consulting LLP, Deloitte LLP, and Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited (Deloitte Global). Therefore, he is considered to be the most appropriate choice for the top position.
The current Chairman and CEO of global operations, Barry Salzberg, said, "I can think of no one better to lead Deloitte Global. Punit's experience as chairman of our US firm — the largest and most complex in our network — combined with his 28-year career with Deloitte and strong core values makes him the perfect choice."
Punit Renjen joins the list of Indians heading US firms which includes Satya Nadella of Microsoft, Indra Nooyi of PepsiCo, Anshu Jain of Deutsche Bank, Shantanu Jha of Adobe, Ajay Banga of MasterCard, and many others.
