US Homeland Security

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has issued a warning to legal Immigrants who often fall prey to Immigration fraudsters. It says wrong advice in preparing immigration paperwork could lead them to face deportation.

Electronic Payments:

USCIS does not accept Western Union or PayPal payments. Neither would they ever ask to pay fees on the phone, message or by email.

They accept credit card payments only through the portal MyUSCIS, as per the Miami Herald. Payments could also be made with a money order or cashier’s check from a U.S. financial institution.

Illicit Internet Pages:

Some web pages claim to be affiliated with USCIS and offer paid service to guide immigrants to complete forms.

The agency insisted that its official web page is USCIS.gov, and that all forms required for the immigration process can be downloaded for free.

Jobs Offered With Visa:

When a job is offered along with Visa, it’s a reason for immigrants to breathe easy. But, isn’t it too good of an offer to be true? More than often, it is. Students and exchange visitors soon to be graduated from U.S. universities are easy victims for such fraudsters.

 Diversity Immigrant Visa Program:

Registration for the program, commonly known as the Visa Lottery, is free of cost. The Government never declares the winners through email messages. Any communication of that sort should be considered fraudulent.

Notary Public:

One of the most common mistakes committed by immigrants is to turn to a Notary Public, called as notarios públicos in Spanish. USCIS warned that a Notary Public is not authorized to provide them with any service regarding immigration.
