Graduate Development Program, 1 week left to apply

Applications for the 2021 Graduate Development Program will be closing soon. Applications opened on March 23, 2020 and will be closing on April 24, 2020. The selection process for Australia’s Graduate Development Program involves many stages. The program runs across many months. To be able to transition on to the next stage of the process, the candidate will have to be found suitable at each stage of the selection process. In the 12-month duration of the Program, graduates selected for the program will gain hands-on experience at different workplace rotations within the Department of Home Affairs of Australia. Following an orientation and induction program, a mentor will be assigned. Various graduate events will be held. Many internal and external events and activities will be held as well. The date of commencement will be early February at the APS 4 classification. After the successful completion of the Program, the graduate will be placed into an ongoing role. Eligibility requirements for the Graduate Development Program include –

Being a citizen of Australia. Or will be a citizen of Australia by April 24, 2020.

Being in the final year of degree or having completed a minimum of an Australian recognized postgraduate/undergraduate degree in last 5 years The candidate must be able to provide evidence of completion before the commencement of the Program.

Able to relocate to Canberra

Obtaining and maintaining an Employment Suitability Clearance

Obtaining and maintaining an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency Clearance

Note. – For degrees obtained overseas, recognition will be required from the Department of Education, Skills and Employment. Step-wise application process for Graduate Development Program STEP 1: Online application [March 23, 2020 to April 24, 2020] Creation of an account for registration. A confirmation email will be sent by the Department of Home Affairs. STEP 2: Completion of an online assessment [early May 2020] Successful applicants will be invited to take part in online assessments. STEP 3: Video interview [mid May 2020] Up to 4 questions will be put to the applicant in a video interview. STEP 4: Assessment Centre [June to July 2020] Those successful in the video interview will be invited to attend a session at an assessment centre. STEP 5: Referee Reports [July 2020] These Reports are used as confirmation of qualifications, employment history etc. STEP 6: Merit Pool [August 2020] The recruitment process is considered to be completed by Step 6. Here, candidates found suitable for the Program will be placed in a Merit Pool. STEP 7: Receiving a verbal employment offer [August 2020] If found suitable and selected, the candidate will be contacted with an offer of employment. STEP 8: Security clearance [August 2020] Prior to commencement with the Department of Home Affairs, Employment Suitability Clearance and Security clearance will be required.
