Express Entry Second Draw Conducted; More 779 Profiles Picked

After a successful first round of ITAs to 779 candidates in the last week of January, CIC has conducted another draw within just one week.

This time as well 779 candidates were picked from the Express Entry Pool. The benchmark of selection, however, was 818 points compared to 886 in the first express entry draw.

As per Citizenship and Immigration Canada:

Determination — Number Of Invitations

  1. (1) For the purposes of paragraph 10.2(1)(b) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, the number of invitations that may be issued during the period beginning on February 7, 2015 and ending on February 8, 2015is 779.

(2) Foreign nationals who, on February 7, 2015 at 11:59:59 UTC, have been assigned a total of 818 points or more under the Comprehensive Ranking System that is set out in the Ministerial Instructions Respecting the Express Entry System, as published in the Canada Gazette, Part I, on December 1, 2014 and as amended from time to time, occupy the rank required to be invited to make an application for permanent residence.

Under Canada Express Entry program, candidates can submit their profile in Express Entry pool for free. The concerned government authorities will then pick the candidates based on their rank and labour market requirements in Canada and send the high ranking candidates an Invitation to Apply (ITA).

So far 1558 candidates have been invited to apply for Canadian PR in 2 separate draws. Candidates have 60 days to submit a completed PR application and then 6 months more to receive permanent residency processed by the CIC.

The new system which started from January 1st, 2015, gives skilled professional an easy access to job openings in Canada, and Canadian employers an easy access to candidates profiles through Job-Bank.

Canada is expected to welcome thousands of foreign skilled workers to fulfill its labour market needs through Express Entry system.
