Arrangements for visa-on-arrival for nationals of America and South Korea are underway at 9 selected airports in the country - Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, Kochi, Trivandrum, Goa, and Kolkata. The first phase will be initiated shortly at the given airports, and the facility will be extended to other airports in the future.
Currently, India offer visa-on-arrival facility to nationals of Singapore, New Zealand, Philippines, Japan, Indonesia, Finland, Myanmar, Cambodia, Vietnam, Luxembourg, and Laos.
The Visa on Arrival scheme is covered under the E-Visa Scheme. The Tourism Minister of India said, "We are working for e-visa facility which will help tourists to get their travel document by applying online. Once e-visa facility is introduced, VoA is likely to become redundant."
