Chris Alexander, Canada's Citizenship and Immigration Minister, is on a India visit. Accompanying him is the High Commissioner for Canada to India, Mr. Nadir Patel. He arrived in India to attend Vibrant Gujarat summit at Gandhinagar.

Mr. Alexander met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and is expected to fly to South Indian cities of Bangalore and Chennai.

In Bangalore on January 13th i.e. today, Mr. Alexander will inaugurate a visa office at the Consulate General of Canada. He will visit Chennai on January 14, to attend meetings and highlight newly introduced Canada Express Entry, the Start-up Visa, Job-Bank, and other visa options.

Canada Express Entry will apparently be one of the key topics as Canada expects to issue more than 2,50,000 PR Visas in 2015. And India is one important contributor of skilled workforce to the world, including Canada. Under this new program, Indian workers can find jobs in Canada through Job-Bank and get PR in less than 6 months period.

Chris Alexander's India visit will strengthen the ties and bring forth the best for mutual benefit of India and Canada.
