Canada has increased the targets for intake of Family Class Immigration in the latest succession of developments. Over the past 2 years, Canada is aiming to make Family Class Immigration simpler than ever before.
The overall scenario for applicants looking to sponsor their loved ones to Canada looks positive. Canada PR holders and citizens can sponsor their family members through Family Class Immigration. These include overseas partner/spouse, dependent children, parents, and grandparents.
Canada intends to welcome 265,500 Canada PR holders through Family Class Immigration in next 3 years. This is to facilitate unification with their loved ones in Canada.
IRCC said in a press release last week that increased targets will cater to reducing the backlogs. This will also lower processing times for family-sponsored immigration. It will help grandparents, parents, children, and spouses to unite with their family members in Canada.
The efforts for family class migration are in sync with the goal of the government to decrease processing times. This is especially for sponsoring of common-law-partners and spouses residing in Canada. The then Immigration Minister of Canada in 2016 December said that processing times would be halved for Inland Sponsorship. It would be reduced to 1 year from the existing 2 years added McCallum. This target is being adhered to in most of the cases today, as quoted by the CIC News.
Ahmed Hussen the Immigration Minister of Canada revealed the new multi-year immigration plan last week. He explained the objectives of the plan to the media in a press conference at Toronto. Hussen keenly pointed out that largest intake of immigrants to Canada will be through the economic category. The next large category for immigrants’ intake would be Family class, he added.
