Ulster University An All-Ireland visa is needed for the students once they complete their graduation according to Paddy Nixon the Ulster University Vice-chancellor. He has also called upon the governments of Ireland and the UK to address the issues that the universities will face in the post-Brexit period. Mr. Nixon has argued that an All-Ireland visa would be an attractive offer for the overseas students. According to him, this would be an exclusive arrangement between the Republic and Ireland. The All-Ireland visa would facilitate overseas students who graduate from universities in Ireland the access to visa. This will authorize them to reside in Ireland and be employed, as quoted by the Workpermit. The Vice-chancellor of Ulster University also suggested that the Irish Sea can be utilized as the border. This will prevent overseas students to arrive at Northern Ireland and be employed in the mainland UK. The Irish Republic already has several programs that authorize overseas students to work in the nation upon completion of their graduation. The exit of the UK from the EU could have several issues for the Ulster University. It will be more so if in case the border separating the North and South is changed. Already the future of the Derry based Magee campus of the Ulster University is doubtful. As of now, it attracts students and staff from both the sides of the border. But a tough border could diminish the numbers of students and staffs. On the other hand leaders in the education sector have expressed worries regarding treatment of students from Ireland in North after Brexit. Fears are already being expressed that they could be classified as overseas students and asked to pay higher fees. Similarly, students from Northern Ireland studying in mainland UK could be asked to pay overseas fees. Several universities have set up a task force to address the challenges of Brexit according to the report of The University Times.
