Indian travelers are increasingly seeking Australia as a chosen destination for overseas travel as there was a 15% increase in their numbers this year. Tourism Australia has revealed that when compared with October 2016, 15% more Indian travelers arrived in the nation in October 2017.
24, 000 Indian travelers arrived in Australia in October 2017 when compared with the 20, 598 travelers who arrived in October 2016. Until October 2017, 294, 000 travelers from India have arrived in Australia. This makes India the 9th largest market for tourism in Australia. It has also brought Australia very near to its 2020 target of welcoming 300,000 travelers annually. This is much before its actual 3-year target, as quoted by Little India.
Tourists from India have spent 1.45 billion AUD in Australia till 2017 September. This is an increase of 26% when compared with 2016. It makes India the 8th largest market nation in terms of money spent by the visitors. Spending by Indian travelers in Australia has witnessed growth in double digits for the 4th year in a row. This makes India the fastest expanding cash-flowing market to Australia.
In 2017 October almost 741, 500 travelers from diverse nations arrived in Australia. This is an increase of 6.6% when compared with the same period last year. Tourism Australia released a statement that this brings it to 8.7 million traveler arrivals for year ending October. It is a growth of 7.1% when compared with a year earlier, it added.
Leisure arrivals were the propelling factor in the growth of overseas arrivals, said the statement from Tourism Australia. There was a growth of 7.6% for the twelve month period. The top traveler source nation for Australia is New Zealand. It is followed by China, the US, the UK, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Malaysia, and India.
