The Department of State, Government of US, provides a list of skilled temporary visas for specialist occupations, each of them intended to empower an alternate kind of worker to cross US borders from overseas. There is the H-2A visa for brief agrarian workers, the L visa for inter company transferees or the P-1 for foreign athletes.

In the technology world, the H-1B visa for skilled immigrants in a specialist occupation has been a heated topic now and again. As indicated by the official site for the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), the H-1B visa class applies to individuals who wish to perform service in a specialist occupation, services of extraordinary merit and capacity identifying with a Department of Defense (DOD) innovative work venture, or services as a fashion model of recognized capacity.

Separating this further, there are three unique classifications of visas under the H-1B visa heading. There is the visa for specialist occupations, which should require no less than a four year bachelors certification; be complex enough that just individuals with a four year certification can finish the work; positions where the particular obligation is so specific or complex that the duties are generally connected with a four year bachelors certification level of training; or the business requires a degree or an equivalent educational certification for the position. As far as skilled workers are concerned, workers on a H-1B visa should be holding no less than a bachelor certification from a licensed educational foundation; hold a foreign degree comparable to a US bachelor's; hold an unrestricted state permit, enlistment or accreditation approving a man to practice within the state of employment; or have training or logical experience work which is equivalent to a bachelors degree and have recognition of expertise within that skilled occupation and industry.

Overseas workers coming over on a H-1B visa might be accepted for a period of 3 years, extendible up to a maximum of six years. Companions and unmarried youngsters under 21 of H-1B visa might look for H-4 non-immigrant grouping for admission to America during the length of the H-1B visa.
