This figure comes from the latest Labour Force Sample Survey published by Qatar's National Planning Council. It works out to roughly QAR 147,600 (approx. ₹35.4 lakh) a year. How Qatar's Average Salary Compares to Other Countries

Qatar offers some of the highest average salaries in the Gulf, and the pay is tax-free. Looking at savings after rent gives a clearer picture than comparing gross pay alone. On that basis, Qatar compares well with many higher-tax countries in Europe and North America.

Pay is strongest in energy, healthcare, finance and IT, where skilled workers remain in demand. Salaries still vary widely by nationality of employer, qualifications, experience and the allowances offered.

FAQs

What is the average salary in Qatar?

The average monthly salary in Qatar is about QAR 12,303 for people in paid employment, based on the latest Labour Force Sample Survey from the National Planning Council. That is roughly QAR 147,600 a year. Because Qatar has no income tax, most expatriates take home their full salary.

Is salary in Qatar tax-free?

Yes. Qatar does not charge personal income tax on salaries. Expatriate employees also do not pay social security contributions, which apply only to Qatari and other GCC nationals. This means your gross salary is usually the same as your take-home pay.

What is the minimum wage in Qatar?

The minimum wage in Qatar is QAR 1,000 a month in basic pay. Employers must also provide QAR 500 for housing and QAR 300 for food, unless they already provide these. This brings the total minimum to QAR 1,800 a month. It applies to all workers, including domestic workers.

Which jobs pay the highest salaries in Qatar?

Medical specialists, petroleum engineers, finance managers and IT project managers are among the best-paid roles. Many earn QAR 22,000 to QAR 45,000 a month or more. Senior doctors and energy specialists can earn even higher. Most of these jobs are in Doha and the energy sector.

How much do degree holders earn in Qatar?

Employees with a university degree earn about QAR 25,294 a month on average, roughly double the national average. Professionals in managerial and specialist roles often earn more. Higher qualifications and relevant experience can make a big difference to your salary offer.

What allowances are included in a Qatar salary package?

Most packages include a basic salary plus allowances for housing and transport. Some employers also offer annual flights home, schooling support for children and health insurance. Always check which allowances are included before you accept a job offer, as they affect your savings.

Is the average salary in Qatar enough to live comfortably?

For a single person, yes, in most cases. An average salary covers rent, food and transport, with room to save. Rent in central Doha is high, so a job with free housing or a housing allowance helps a lot. Living outside the centre can also reduce costs.

What is the end-of-service gratuity in Qatar?

Employees who complete at least one year of service are entitled to an end-of-service gratuity of at least three weeks' basic salary for each year worked. It is paid when your employment ends. Your contract may offer a higher amount, so check its terms.

How does Qatar's salary compare to other GCC countries?

Qatar publishes one of the highest official all-worker average salaries in the GCC. Like other Gulf countries, it has no personal income tax. Actual earnings depend on your sector, employer and allowances, and senior packages in the UAE and Saudi Arabia can be similar or higher.

What salary do I need to bring my family to Qatar?

You usually need a monthly salary of at least QAR 10,000, or QAR 6,000 with family housing provided by your employer, to sponsor your family. Requirements can change, so check the latest rules with the Ministry of Interior before you apply.
