American doctoral and postdoctoral students may soon have the opportunity to work with their counterparts from around the world under a new grant program from the British Council. The council recently announced that it will give 10 grants valued at up to $75,000 for multidisciplinary research projects between British, Indian and American academic institutions, according to its website.

The council will accept proposals for projects that involve a wide range of subjects, including humanities, social sciences and technology. All applicants for the grant must give details on how schools in each of the three countries will contribute to the project, and must submit their proposals by April 2012.

American doctorate degree seekers may soon work with researchers from the U.K. and India. According to Inside Higher Ed, this type of global collaboration for research purposes is continually expanding, especially as professionals become increasingly concerned with international issues, such as climate change. Additionally, U.K. professor Rick Rylance recently told The Independent that global collaboration in the arts and humanities in particular is providing British students with broader perspectives and the chance to work with academic leaders from around the globe, including the U.S.
