Tuck School of Business (Dartmouth)

The Tuck School of Business, known also as Tuck, or the Amos Tuck School of Administration and Finance, is the business school of Dartmouth College, a private university in Hanover, New Hampshire.

It is located on the campus of Dartmouth College. Its campus is housed in a complex on the Dartmouth’s campus’s west side, close to the Connecticut River.

Tuck has five residential facilities in Achtmeyer Hall, Buchanan Hall, Pineau-Valencienne Hall, Raether Hall, and Whittemore Hall.

Tuck Business School, unlike other Ivy League schools, exclusively offers only a two-year, full-time MBA program. It does not have a part-time or a weekend program. It has an acceptance rate of 23%

At present, the school is home to 560 students in two classes. About 37% of them are foreign nationals.  Tuck School of Business conducts admissions in three main rounds.

Although the school does not stipulate minimum test scores or GPA, aspiring students applying to Tuck need to have a GPA of about 3.48, equivalent to 87% to 89%  and a score of 720 in GMAT. Their score in TOEFL should be a minimum of 100, displaying their proficiency in English.

Moreover, Tuck offers Business Bridge programs for STEM undergraduates, liberal arts, and executive education in range of disciplines. The school also works together with Dartmouth College, its parent institution, to offer many dual degrees, including the Master of Health Care Delivery Science and Master of Engineering Management programs.

At Tuck School of Business, tuition fees are about $77,520 USD.  But the school offers various scholarship programs to eligible students to enable them fund their studies. In addition, Fulbright scholarships are available to candidates from India.

Tuck School of Business offers its students an option to be part of social service groups, event-focused clubs, career clubs, special affinity, cultural affinity organizations, and sports clubs at its campus. The aim of these clubs is to cater to the varied interests of Tuck students.

  • Career clubs include groups and organizations like Consulting Club, Finance General Management Club, Data Analytics Club, etc.
  • Event-management groups organize events, including Tuck Winter Carnival, Tuck Follies, Diversity Conferences, etc. These events allow students to socialize, interact, and associate with their peers who have similar interests.
  • Sports aficionados can become a part of a sport club that they prefer – basketball, golf, soccer, sailing, skiing, snowboarding, and tennis, among others.

Tuck School of Business offers convenient and contemporary housing facilities to its first-year students. Single first-year students without a partner or child are eligible to live on campus.

  • The rooms are assigned at Tuck through a lottery as most applications to live on-campus surpass the number of available rooms.
  • The on-campus housing at Tuck costs about $13,000.
  • The school’s second-year students live off-campus. Affordably priced off-campus housing is available for its graduate students at Sachem Village.
  • Candidates are allowed to apply for an apartment through the website of the admitted students. The MBA office will allot to graduate students’ apartments by conducting a lottery.
  • In addition, students can opt for off-campus student housing in non-Dartmouth, such as rental apartments, condominiums, etc.
MBA Programs at Tuck School of Business

The MBA program at Tuck School of Business has a tough general management syllabus. The course covers key functional areas, such as analytics, corporate finance, corporate markets, communications and operations, marketing, organizational behavior, strategy, etc.

  • Students having knowledge in any of the foundation courses can opt for an elective course in its place. Tuck School offers about 100 elective courses to choose from.
  • The First-Year Project of the school is a compulsory part of Tuckgo suite of practical and global courses. Students will have to apply the lessons learned in their first year to solve complex everyday issues for several clients.
  • Tuckgo is a portfolio of practical courses conducted across the world. Each student enrolled in the MBA program must pick one Tuckgo course in a country that they are not at all familiar with.
  • Tuck School of Business offers Business Bridge programs for liberal arts and STEM students. Application Process of Tuck School of Business

When students apply to Tuck School of Business, foreign applicants must note that the admissions committee will assess application materials based on four major conditions – accomplished, aware, encouraging, and smart. There are no minimum measures, at Tuck School of Business, such as grades, test scores, or work experience for being admitted.

Scholarships and Aid Provided by the Tuck School of Business

Tuck School of Business provides scholarships through alumni, corporations, and not-for-profits. Tuck School of Business offers financial aids that are both merit-based and need-based. Candidates, therefore, do not need to apply separately for a scholarship.

Through Tuck scholarships, the amount issued ranges between $10,000 USD and complete tuition fees. Most of them are given during each round of admission, though; some could get them at a later date. Some scholarships are issued automatically for next year if students maintain excellent academic records. International candidates could also consider applying for other scholarship programs available outside such as the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program.

There are about 10,700 alumni members of the school. Among them, over 550 alumni volunteer annually for the school. Until now, alumni are said to have offered about $250 million to support Tuck’s programs, people, and places.
