In 2023, the United States processed 1.4 million visas for Indians and significantly reduced the visitor visa appointment wait times by 75%. The surge in demand was particularly noteworthy for the B1/B2 visitor visa category, which saw over 700,000 applications. This success was due to the increase in US staffing in India, which resulted in a significant reduction in appointment wait times for all visa categories from 1,000 days to just 250 days across the country.
