In 2023, the United States processed 1.4 million visas for Indians and significantly reduced the visitor visa appointment wait times by 75%. Indians now make up one tenth of all foreign applications for US visas, with demand soaring across all the visa categories marking a 60% surge from the previous year.

The surge in demand was particularly noteworthy for the B1/B2 visitor visa category, which saw over 700,000 applications.
