Canada’s latest EE draw

In the latest Express Entry Pool draw conducted on 15th October 2018, 3900 candidates received invitations to apply. The lowest CRS was 440 which is 5 points lower than the last draw held on 3rd October. An equal number of invitations were issued in the last draw as well.

This is the 5th time in 2018 that the CRS has dropped to 440.

The tie-break rule was used in this draw and the time and date used were 18th September 2018 at 11:06:29 UTC. The tie-break rule means that all candidates scoring 440 and above who had submitted their profiles before the specific date and time received ITAs.

According to CIC News, the fact that this draw took place less than 2 weeks after the last pool draw on 3rd October helped lower the CRS. Express Entry pool draws generally are conducted every two weeks, but this draw happened only after 12 days.

The lesser time between draws means that the EE does not have enough time to replenish. Hence it can be instrumental in pushing the minimum scores down.

Canada’s Express Entry system manages candidate’s profile in three federal economic migration streams-FSWP, FSTC, and CEC. Each profile is ranked using the Comprehensive Ranking Score on the basis of various factors like age, education, work experience, and language proficiency.

Invitations are issued to highest-ranked candidates through regular pool draws.

IRCC has conducted over 22 draws in 2018 and has issued a total of 70,300 ITAs. The Govt. of Canada, under its Multi-Year Immigration Level Plan, has an intake target of 74,900 for the year 2018.
