The Government of Malta has launched a fresh Student Visa policy with the aim of streamlining the process of offering documents for immigration. It hopes that this will make Malta an attractive option for overseas students when compared with other EU nations.
Amongst the challenges posed by the current system, the biggest is the lack of diplomatic or consulate presence in some nations. This forces prospective students to travel to other regions or nations just for the visa application, as quoted by the Xinhuanet.
The new student visa policy launched by Malta will enable students to submit an online visa application form. They will also be able to utilize the services of external providers functioning in the regions with the absence of diplomatic or Consulate presence.
The Identity Malta, Ministry of Education, and Police have launched a system for sharing of data. This will check the abuse of the system. Passports and other ID documents are offered by the agency Identity Malta.
The fresh Student Visa policy will also offer the students the chance to work in the nation from the commencement of their visa. This is apart from facilitating the arrival to Malta. The hours of work will be restricted to 20 hours weekly. The students who complete their higher education will also have the option to extend their visa by 6 months.
The Ministry of Education in Malta has issued a statement. It elaborates that the fresh policy will permit the nation to remain competitive. This will also help to retain the highly talented overseas nationals. Passport requirements include originals with one copy of the information page of the passport with signatures. The passport must have been issued in the last 10 years.
