Caroline Nokes the UK Immigration Minister outlined the vision for the UK Innovator and Start-up Visa programs that were launched recently. This was in a meeting with the Start-ups and Tech firms for discussing the future immigration system for the UK.
The UK Immigration Minister co-chaired a discussion meeting held with industry professionals and Tech entrepreneurs. This was along with the Minister for Digital and the Creative Industries Margot James. The discussions focused on how the new immigration system in the UK could support the growth of the Tech sector in the nation.
The UK has the most thriving Tech sector in Europe said Nokes during the meeting. London itself has 1000s of Start-ups she added. I want to ensure that the UK remains the top destination for Tech talents, added the UK Immigration Minister.
The UK Innovator and Start-up Visa programs were launched just a few weeks back by the UK Home Office. This was as a part of the efforts to attract top overseas talents to the UK, as quoted by the Guardian.
The UK Government perceives that exit from the EU is a chance to change the immigration system in the nation. The Home Office is visibly heavily occupied in achieving this. A white paper was published in 2018 December outlining the obvious agenda. It establishes a system of immigration that works for communities and businesses across the UK.
Our immigration regime will harmonize delivering on the referendum vote and eliminating free movement said, Nokes. This is by attracting skilled talents across the world so that our economy continues to flourish, added the Immigration Minister.
The UK continues to attract talents globally said, James. This is due to our background for innovation, strong access to funds, and world-leading Universities, he added. The priority of our new Industrial strategy is to ensure that we have skills and talents so as to continue the incredible growth of the Tech sector, said James.
The round table discussion was held at the Barbican Centre in London. This was between James, Nokes, and UK Tech sector representatives in partnership with Tech Nation. It was among the 100 plus similar events held across the UK in 2019.
The UK Innovator and Start-up Visa programs are aimed at bolstering UK’s attempts to attract top global talents. Tech Nation meanwhile announced a 45% increase in the applications for Exceptional Talent Tier 1 Visa endorsement.
Tech Nation is among the 5 designated authorized bodies in the UK. These deal with endorsement applications for the Exceptional Talent Tier 1 Visa.
