The University of British Columbia (UBC) is a public university with two campuses, one near Vancouver and another in Kelowna, British Columbia.

Set up in 1908, it is the oldest university in the province of British Columbia. It ranks among the top three Canadian universities.

The University of British Columbia was ranked #47 in the 2023 QS World University Rankings and #3 in Canada. It was ranked #37 in the 2022 Times Higher Education World University Rankings and #2 in Canada.

Admissions at UBC for Masters courses

A lot of students vie to get admission to the Master’s courses of UBC are very competitive.

As of 2021, UBC received 28,739 applications, and only 18.64% of them (5,357) were admitted.

 

Eligibility criteria for Master’s programs at the University of British Columbia

Indian undergraduate students who wish to study master’s at UBC are required to have:

  • A four-year bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree
  • A score of 6.5 in IELTS or 90 in TOEFL to demonstrate proficiency in the English language
  • All educational transcripts must be in English. If they are in regional languages, they should be translated into English.
  • GRE for certain Master’s programs and GMAT for MBA and other management programs 
  • Statement of Purpose (SOP)
  • Minimum three Letters of Recommendation 
  • Submission essays, if the university requests.
  • Portfolio (if necessary)
