The University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) is a public university located in Sydney in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Founded in its present form in 1988, in 2021, UTS admitted more than 45,200 students through its nine faculties and schools.

The campus consists of five distinct precincts in Broadway, Haymarket, Blackfriars, Moore Park, and Botany. Of the total enrolled students, more than 33,100 are undergraduate students, over 9,700 are postgraduate students, and more than 2,300 are doctorate students. Campuses of the University of Technology Sydney

The campus of UTS is located in Sydney’s hub where many modern buildings exist, including Alumni Green, UTS Central, and UTS Library, among others. The university has more than 130 clubs and societies, including Athletics, African Society, Backstage, etc. related to different activities in academic, cultural, sports, etc.

  • UTS Central: Housed in a 17-story glass front building is a student center, research spaces, food court, and Hive Super Lab, a 270-seater facility. Also in it is a new library that has a three-level reading room.
  • UTS Tech Lab: It hosts the engineering and IT faculty and is an incubator for researchers promoting partnerships between the industry and government to advance innovative technologies in many fields.
  • Dr. Chau Chak Wing Building: A facility for UTS Business School, it houses many classrooms and oval lecture theatres that enable dialogue and teamwork with large places for students to study.
  • Moore Park campus: One of the few facilities in Australia to combine university programs with a sporting facility. Combining science and sport offers active access is offered to athletes within UTS.
  • Vicki Sara Building: This building houses the Faculty of Science and Graduate School of Health along with a Super Lab, a first for Australia, to put up to 220 students belonging to 12 classes.
  • Engineering and IT Building: This building hosts teaching enabled by technology, research, and social spaces gathered around an atrium and is also the most developed data visualization facility in Australia.

Accommodation at the University of Technology Sydney

Foreign students of the university can opt for any of the four residences close to the campus in addition to other student housing accommodations. All residences in UTS feature expansive public and BBQ areas, a rooftop garden, and study rooms that are self-sufficient and protected.

Students need to pay an application fee of AUD50, besides an acceptance fee of AUD130 to reserve housing facilities on campus. Rents off-campus rent begins from AUD6,500, not counting the added cost of AUD1,000 for other facilities. UTS provides a Residential Life program intending to assist students in coping with convenient amenities while they are away from home.

  • Geegal, a purpose-built group of townhouses, houses 57 students in studio and shared apartments.
  • Bulga Ngurra, a modern apartment building, lodges 119 students in studio and shared apartments.
  • Gumal Ngurang, a modern apartment building, accommodates 252 students in studio and shared apartments.
  • Yura Mudang provides shelter to 720 students in studios and shared apartments.
