Overseas Job Market trends for fresh business school grads in 2018

The latest Overseas Job Market trends for fresh business school graduates have been revealed by the Corporate Recruiters Survey - GMAC 2018. It also elaborates that 7 in 10 employers plan to hire business school graduates in demand job functions.

Aspiring Overseas Job aspirants must take note of the below key trends for 2018:

Size, firm type, industry, and location of the employer does matter

Diverse employers have significant divergence in their functional demands. The location of the firm also influences the kind of skills that they require. For instance, Latin America places the highest priority on Business Development. On the other hand, the US employers are not that bothered.

If the firm is included in the Global Fortune 100 or if it has 10,000 or plus employees or if it is owned family, all these factors make a difference. Larger firms value business development (86%). Meanwhile, this percentage is very low for firms with 100 plus employees, as quoted by the Study International.

MBA graduates are more likely to be hired for generalist roles than MIM graduates

The GMAC 2018 Survey also points out that MBA graduates are more likely to be hired for generalist roles than MIM graduates. Nevertheless, most of the MIM and MBA graduates will be needed to fill positions that are a generalist in nature.

On the other hand, similar to required functions, the job roles of MIM and MBA talents vary by size, industry, and employer region.

MBA graduates for strategic positions and MIM graduates for operational positions

The report suggests that corporate recruiters make a clear distinction between strategic and operational engines of the business. Your chances of being placed in either of the roles vary considerably depending on whether you hold MIM or MBA degree. The recruiters in the US will prefer you for operational roles (59%) if you hold a MIM rather than for strategic roles (41%).
