South African nationals will now be able to apply for Indian visas of various types from the visa centres set up by VFS Global at Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban.
Indian citizens or NRIs (non-Resident Indians) in South Africa too can apply for the Indian passport and avail certain consular services in these three centres.
Iol.co.za quotes Jiten Vyas, VFS Global COO – Africa, as saying during the launch of their operations in the Rainbow Nation that he was happy to extend his association with the Indian government as they launched visa, passport and some consular services in this African nation.
As travel between the Indian and South Africa grows, VFS Global was sure of providing world-class services that will improve the experiences of travellers between both the nations, he added.
South Africa is reportedly the first country in the continent of Africa where VFS Global has begun providing visa processing services on behalf of the Indian government.
India is said to have become a popular destination for South Africans for tourism, business and education in addition to medical tourism, research or journalism.
VFS Global would be responsible for accepting and processing applications only for Indian visas from South African citizens. Meanwhile, the Consulate General of India, which is located in Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg, will continue to evaluate and decide on granting of visas.
