New English Language Requirements

The Australian Government changed English Language Requirements for Student and Temporary Graduate visas. The changes were announced as part of the Australian Migration Strategy. English Language Requirements for Temporary Graduate Visa (TGV)

• IELTS test scores have been increased from 6.0 to 6.5, with 5.5 being the minimum score for each test component (reading, writing, speaking, and listening) for a Temporary Graduate visa.
• The test validity window has decreased from 3 years to 1 year. Temporary Graduate visa applicants should provide evidence that they have completed an English Language test within 1 year immediately before the date of the visa application.

English Language Requirements for Student Visa

• IELTS test score increases from 5.5 to 6 for a Student visa.
• IELTS increases from 4.5 to 5.0 to undertake a packaged ELICOS.
• There will be no changes for students studying English through ELICOS.
• For students undertaking university foundation, the IELTS test score should be 5.5.
