America Honours Great Immigrants

It’s not everyday that we come across news about, Indians making it big in other part of the world. When you do, you feel proud to be an Indian. Four Non-Resident Indians have given us this opportunity. They have done work which has helped them earn the title of Great Immigrants: The Pride of America.

Their exceptional work in their own fields has compelled Carnegie Corporation of New York to confer this title to them. So they chose the 4th of July, which happens to be the American Independence Day, to honour these naturalized citizens of America.

Their contribution has majorly been in terms of helping in making America stronger as a nation. These Indian-Americans are Preet Bharara, US Attorney, Southern District of New York, Rakesh Khurana Danoff, Dean of Harvard College and Marvin Bower Professor of Leadership and Development, Madhulika Sikka Vice President, Executive Editor, Mic (India) and Abraham Verghese, Physician, Professor, Author (India).

Throwing more light on the same, Yahoo News quoted Vartan Gregorian, President of the Corporation says, "Our founder, Andrew Carnegie, came to this country as the son of impoverished immigrants and grew up to become one of the greatest contributors to American industry and philanthropy.” Their dedication to the nation has made them go beyond the capacities to serve the nation.

38 immigrants believed to have migrated to USA from 30 countries are honoured as the Pride of America.  This only reaches us to take inspiration from them and excel in our respective fields. And become a part of the Global Indian league.
