Express Entry Draw #144 held on April 16 had 3,782 invitations being sent to immigration candidates to apply for Canadian residence along with their families. This was another program-specific draw especially targeted at candidates under the Canadian Experience Class [CEC]. The earlier CEC-only draw was held on April 9.

The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System [CRS] score in the present draw was as low as 455.

Tie-break applied in the draw was of January 20, 2020, at 15:20:02 UTC. All immigration candidates that had a CRS of 455 and above and had submitted their profile before the date and time in the tie-break were issued an invitation.

The present draw is the eleventh to be held in 2020. With this, 30,400 Express Entry candidates have been invited so far in 2020.

While the majority of the Express Entry Draw usually include candidates from all the 3 classes under the Express Entry System – Federal Skilled Worker Program [FSWP], Canadian Experience Class [CEC] and Federal Skilled Trades Program [FSTP] – the April 16 draw was a rare exception. This is the fourth CEC-only draw to be held by Canada in the history of the Express Entry.

The CEC involves candidates with prior Canadian experience. As such individuals might already be in Canada, the Canadian government might have found it more practical to focus on those in view of the ongoing situation.

Under the 2020-2022 Immigration Levels Plan announced by the government of Canada on March 12, a total of 341,000 immigrants are to be welcomed by Canada in 2020.

Total 11 draws held in 2020 so far.
