New test results are now accepted as language ability proof for Canada PR. This is for economic immigration applicants for Canada PR in the French-speaking category.
TCF Test de connaissance du français pour le Canada is administered is administered by the CIEP– Centre international d’études pédagogiques. It is a Centre governed by the Government of France.
TCF Canada is a test for proficiency in French language. It will be offered at test centers approved in Canada along with 150 plus nations, as quoted by the CIC News.
The CIEP has said that the TCF was planned to correspond with IRCC – Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s accredited standards in French language. This is the NCLC – Niveaux de Compétence Linguistique Canadiens.
Aspiring immigrants to Canada in the economic category must offer evidence for adequate proficiency in French or English. These include Express Entry’s Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class, and Federal Skilled Worker Class. This is for immigrating to Canada that has both French and English as official languages.
For example, FSWC candidates can claim French as their first language. They are required to demonstrate proficiency equal to NCLC 7 level. TCF Canada is now accepted as the second language test in French that is recognized by IRCC. Another accredited test is TEF Canada – Test d’évaluation de français. It means that results of either TEF Canada or TCF Canada will now be accepted by IRCC.
Candidates speaking English applying for Canada PR are not required to offer test results for French. This is unless they claim ability in French language.
