The Mumbai Police Crime Branch arrested 6 people in a Schengen Visa fraud case. 4 of the accused had submitted fake Schengen Visa stickers to the US Embassy in Mumbai. The rest of them had tried to convince the Embassy that they were frequent travellers by using fake documents. They have been charged with submitting fake Schengen Visa documents to obtain a US Visa.
The Mumbai Crime Branch has revealed that all 6 accused have been arrested after Brandon Kelley Shaw lodged a complaint against them. Mr Shaw is an employee of the US Embassy in Mumbai.
Elaborating further, the Crime Branch said that a couple submitted their passports to the US Embassy with fake Schengen Visa stickers. Their passport had fake stamps of countries like Switzerland, France and Italy. However, during the visa interview, the couple, Mahesh Patel and Aruna Patel confessed that they had never visited any of these countries before. They also confessed that all the Schengen Visa stickers on their passport were fabricated, as quoted by Latest LY.
Another couple who had submitted their passports with fake Switzerland and Spain Schengen Visa stickers were also arrested.
Along with the above accused, visa agents, Dharmesh Patel and Parimal Patel have also been arrested. They were arrested for providing the couples with fake Schengen Visa stickers and immigration stamps.
