The US Embassy warned people applying for a US visa to beware of fake visa fixers. The US Embassy encouraged applicants to be honest with their visa applications.
The US Embassy in Manila has launched a campaign called “Walang Sikreto” which means “No Secrets”. The campaign aims to educate the general public that there are no hidden secrets to a US visa or any consular services. It is best to be always honest and follow the correct procedure.
Kimberly Kelly, Deputy Consul General of the US Embassy in Manila said that it is not difficult to apply for a US visa. She stated that the US issued 204,137 non-immigrant visas in 2018 out of more than 250,000 applications that it had received.
Ms Kelly added that the US visa process is universal, easy and transparent, as quoted by ABS CBN News.
Meanwhile, Leon Gendin, Fraud Prevention Manager of the US Embassy warned people against social media platforms that offer visa services that are too good to be true. He also warns against believing fraudsters who claim to have any kind of influence over the visa process.
Mr Gendin emphasized that nobody could guarantee a visa.
Mr Gendin further added that US adjudicators are trained to recognize fake documents like birth and death certificates. It is very easy for them to tell the fake ones from the original ones.
Ms Kelly added that B1/B2 visa applicants need to convince the Visa Officer that they will abide by the terms of the visa. Officers may ask for extra documents or any extra information related to the purpose of the travel.
