Australia Tourist or Visit Visa – Sector A
1.What is Visitor visa (subclass 600)?
This visa lets you travel to Australia to:
- Have a holiday or visit family and friends in Australia.
- Study in Australia for up to three months.
- Engage in business visitor activities while in Australia, provided you:
- Do not work for or provide services to a business or organization in Australia
- Do not sell goods or services to the public.
2.Do I need a visa to transit through Australia?
You will need a Transit visa if you plan to travel through Australia to another country.
If you are going to stay in Australia for longer than 72 hours, you cannot get a Transit visa and you will need to apply for another type of visa.
3.Do I need a visa to visit Australia?
If you are from a country other than Australia or New Zealand, you will need a visa and a valid passport or other acceptable travel document to enter Australia.
4.How can I extend my stay?
If you want to stay in Australia longer than your original visa lets you, you will need to apply for a further visa of the same kind or another visa.
5.How much longer one can stay in Australia will depend on the visa that one have, or the visa that one apply for?
If you have a ‘No further stay’ condition on your visa, you cannot apply for a new visa while you are in Australia. You must leave Australia no later than the date on which your visa ends, except in extremely limited circumstances.
6.What is a ’round trip cruise’?
A round trip cruise starts and ends in Australia and can last up to 30 days. You may visit other countries for short periods during the cruise.
We treat the time that you are on the cruise as if you were still in Australia for the purposes of your visa.
