With remote working becoming the norm for the workforce in many countries due to the conditions created by the pandemic, employees like you would wish to carry this flexibility at work one step forward by traveling to countries where you can do remote work. The good news is that several countries offer visa options to remote workers.

The remote work visa options these countries offer help attract tourists who will help improve their largely tourism-based economy, and those who come here can stay here long enough to absorb the local culture while doing their work.

Some of these countries have tourist attractions as well. So you can work and enjoy the scenes and sights of these countries during your free time. That’s a double whammy, and with a plethora of options, you must consider factors such as the cost of living, the weather conditions, and the culture before choosing a country.

Here is a list of seven countries you can consider for remote work.

Dubai

Dubai launched the Virtual Working Program in October 2020, under which remote workers can relocate with their families to Dubai for a year.

Remote workers can take advantage of Dubai’s good digital infrastructure, excellent wireless connectivity, high-quality lifestyle, global networking opportunities, etc. This new program is expected to be a good value proposition for start-ups, entrepreneurs, and SMEs.

Remote workers can also access phone lines, get resident ID cards, open a bank account or rent a house, and send their children to school.

Duration of stay: 12 months

Barbados

Barbados launched the Barbados Welcome Stamp Visa in July last year to help remote workers to come to the country and work from here. The workers can apply online for this visa and bring their families. Their children can attend state-owned public schools on the payment of minimum fees. Remote workers are exempt from paying income tax during their stay in the country.

Duration of stay: Visas issued on arrival in Barbados, valid for 12 months, with the option to travel to and from the country during the period.

Bermuda

The country launched its Work From Bermuda Certificate in August 2020. The workers can apply online for this visa with a five-day response time. A separate application is required for each family member. There is no need to pay income tax for remote workers.

Duration of stay: The visa is valid for 12 months, which can be renewed on a case–by–case basis.

Dominica

Dominica offers a Work in Nature visa program for remote workers, which was launched in March this year. Applicants must include a copy of their police record for the past five years and their online application.

Duration of stay: 18 months, visa issued on arrival

Estonia

Estonia offers a digital nomad visa for freelancers and remote workers. With this visa, remote workers can work in Estonia for up to a year for their own business, registered abroad, or in a remote position for a foreign employer. If a remote worker works for more than 183 days in a consecutive 12-month period, they will have to pay taxes in Estonia.

Duration of stay: 12 months

Georgia

Georgia launched its Remotely Work from Georgia program in August 2020. The program provides a long-term permit for visitors from 95 countries. This is not a visa but an entry permit that allows individuals to live in the country for 360 days. Foreigners are allowed to enter Georgia if they are vaccinated against Covid-19.

Duration of stay: 360 days

Montserrat

Montserrat launched its Remote Worker Program in January this year. One can apply online for this permit.

Duration of stay: 12 months, issued on arrival

If you decide to work overseas as a remote worker, you can choose your country and submit an online application with the required documents, and you are likely to get approval in a matter of a few days.
